Porsche has confirmed the introduction of four-cylinder boxer engine in the ranges of Cayman and Boxster!

The Porsche models Boxster and Cayman will receive four-cylinder boxer engine with new generations. Matthias Müller, The Porsche’s CEO, revealed this information in an interview with the German magazine Auto Motor and Sport.

The introduction of these engines in the Porsche range is designed to reduce the CO2 emissions level of range. Although they aim to be more environmentally friendly, the new engines from Porsche will lack horsepower. Asked by the folks at Auto Motor and Sport about the power that the new engines will provide, Matthias Müller said the unit could provide up to 400 hp.

The future Porsche boxer engines will follow a modular strategy, in other words, the family of four-cylinder engines will take the technical components of larger engines. For now, the start date of the new four-cylinder boxer engine from the Porsche is not known, the expected new generation of the Boxster and Cayman’s will be a few years to introduce the SRB range.

Porsche will replace the engines of the supercar 911 GT3!

Porsche 911 GT3, one of the best releases of the German model, will undergo a recall service campaign, which aims to replace the engines for the 785 units built so far.

The Germans want to avoid any potential risk, having analyzed the 911 GT3 remains of two units that caught fire in February. As a safeguard, Porsche 911 GT3 stopped the deliveries last month and asked the owners of models that could be affected not to lead them until they have a solution to repair the problem.

The Porsche found the cause of the problem as a rod that was attached improperly. This could crack the engine block, causing an oil leak, which would have resulted in a fire when the hot liquid reaches the evacuation.

Nick Twork representative who made the announcement Porsche announced that it will exchange the engine in a day, so the owners will not have expected much from the time they are invited to the service. The engine’s six-cylinder Porsche 911 GT3 has a displacement 3.8-liter and 475 hp and 438 Nm delivered. On the German market, the model costs 137,000 euros, VAT included.

Porsche plans a “baby Panamera”

According to the British Autocar, Porsche has plans for a model smaller than Panamera, which could compete in the big premium class.

As we are used to the fact that in German manufacturer’s range is already normal to see “brothers” for luxury models: Porsche 911 is seconded by Boxster/Cayman and Cayenne SUV by the new Macan, Panamera downsizing is not so inconceivable. “Baby-Pananera” would enter into direct competition with prestigious high class sedans such as the German BMW 5 Series, the British Jaguar XF and the Italian Maserati Ghibli.

According to Autocar sources, the future model would use the new platform MSB developed by the Volkswagen group for high-end models, debuting on the market no earlier than 2016. However stated, Porsche says that the problems are not related to profitability or design, but to limits of the production capacity.

TechArt’s Vision of the Porsche 911 Turbo

The TechArt tuning house presents the first images reflecting the new Porsche 911 Turbo in its own vision.

At the external level, the German sports car was equipped with a carbon fiber composite package including an active front spoiler, some new thresholds and a fixed rear spoiler.  Moreover, the TechArt designers are proposing an improved air diffuser and some 20 or 21 inch alloy wheels. Mechanically, the German tuning house engineers have replaced the old suspensions with some more sporting ones and have changed the exhaust system.

TechArt has not yet posted any photo displaying the car’s passenger compartment; however the German officials assert that the German sports car will stand out through some high quality leather, a sports steering wheel and pedals covered with leather, as well as an optional carbon fiber package.

TechArt plans to make some changes under the Porsche 911 Turbo’s hood, namely to install the TA-091/T1 extra performance kit. The equipped with the TechArt kit Porsche 911 Turbo will be presented within the March Geneva Motor Show.

The Porsche Macan is already modified by TOPCAR

The tuner from Moscow delights for the beginning with a new front spoiler that benefits of a special skirt, of special wider wings and of course of the logo TOPCAR applied to the lateral side of the front wings.

The exterior package is completed by a set of side skirts, a new rear spoiler modified, a diffuser and a discreet spoiler. In the near future, the TOPCAR officials will prepare a habitat modification, also some changes in the front of the engine.

There is a price for the package of changes. So, The TOPCAR tuners provide the kit in two versions depending on the material chosen by the customer. The first option costs 14,620 euros, and the second, made of carbon fiber costs 18.270 euros.

The main character of the Fast and Furious series died in a car accident!

Paul Walker, aged 40, famous for his part in five of the six movies in the Fast and Furious series, died in a car accident. Walker was a passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT driven by his friend Roger Rodas.

The two had gone from a charity event organized for the foundation Reach out Worldwide, owned by Paul Walker. Rodas lost the control of the car in Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles at 3:30 PM.

The car hit a pole and then a tree, bursting into flames immediately. Both, Roger Rodas and Paul Walker died after the accident. Paul William Walker IV was born on September 12, 1973 in Glendale, California. His career started early, at the age of two when he starred in a commercial for Pampers. The first part in a big screen movie came in 1986, but fame came in 2001 when Paul Walker starred acting with Vin Diesel in the first movie of The Fast and The Furious series.

Details about the successor of the legendary Porsche Carrera GT!

887 horsepower and 1,275 Nm, the acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of about 340 kmph – these figures are included in the datasheet of the new Porsche 918 Spyder, making it the most powerful Porsche of all times, even if we take into consideration that it will come into production only in a few months.

Unlike its direct rivals such as Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1, set in motion by a gasoline propeller joined by an electric motor that acts like the KERS system from Formula 1, the new Porsche 918 Spyder represents a plug-in hybrid classically car, which get the performance from a combination of the V8 propeller aspirated with two electric motors.

The V8 propeller is one aspirated with a cylinder capacity of 4.6 liters, capable of delivering 608 horsepower, which means that the successor of the legendary Carrera GT can boasts with the most aspirated powerful propeller in the German manufacturer history, the result being a maximum power of approximately 132 HP per liter.

And as recent times increasingly forcing car manufacturers to become more responsible towards the environment, the engineers at Porsche have joined to the petrol motorization and two electric motors, one of which is mounted on the front axle, which offers about 130 horsepower, and the other is mounted on the rear axle, which offers about 156 horsepower. Thus, depending on the driving mode selected, the maximal values available from the Stuttgart Supercar can reach up to 887 horsepower and 1,275 Nm.

In terms of the performance chapter, the future Porsche 918 Spyder also impresses us with the time of acceleration from 0 to 200 kmph equal to 7.9 seconds, and with an acceleration from 0 to 300 kmph in about 23 seconds. At first glance, it’s not just as amazing as are the figures, provided by Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1, but the fact is that the German manufacturer Hypercar weighs about 1,700 kilograms, that is at least an extra 300 kilograms compared to its rivals.

As I said at the beginning, the new Porsche 918 Spyder represents a plug-in hybrid classic car (hence such a difference of its mass comparative with its rivals), which means that it can operate in all-electric mode. In this case, the autonomy is only 30 kilometers, the acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph takes about seven seconds and the maximum speed will not pass the 150 kmph.

And if the above is not enough, worth to mention also, that the new Porsche 918 Spyder impresses because of its active aerodynamic elements, both sockets located on the front spoiler and the aileron for the engine bonnet, respectively the “wings” mounted at rare floor level with three different positions, which automatically are adjusted depending on the driving style of the driver.

In addition, for those who dream for much more performance, the Porsche offers a package Weissach, which promises a weight loss of up to 35 kilograms – in this case, the removable ceiling will be made of carbon fiber, like the rearview mirrors and the aileron for the engine bonnet. In addition, the rims will be made from magnesium and a special foil will replace the exterior paint.

Remains for us just to mention that the new Porsche 918 Spyder boasts with a technology, which allows the turnability of all four wheels, whilst the wheel drive system, the PDK box with seven reports, adjustable suspension PASM and carbon-ceramic brakes complete the list with technical savours.

Porsche Boxster and Cayman models will get 4-Cylinder Engines!

The Germans from Porsche are planning for a quite long while to reduce the cylinder capacity in order to comply with the pollution standards, and the first efforts are likely to yield favorable results during this very autumn, when Porsche will exhibit a new, four-cylinder engine at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

According to preliminary information, the engine will derive from the current 3.2-liter 6-cylinder unit. The new 2.5-liter engine will feature a DFI (Direct Fuel Injection) technology, a single turbocharger and a Porsche VarioCam Plus system.

The engine is supposed to generate no less than 350 horsepower, a torque of 487 Nm, and reach up to 7500 revolutions per minute. The resources will be managed by the slightly revised “PDK” dual clutch transmission.

The first models to benefit from the new engine are the current Cayman and Boxster models. In the hopefully not-too-distant future, namely by 2015, Porsche plans to successfully use this unit in a completely new, entry-level model.
