The Kennedy Space Center started its Summer of Mars festival. One of the most significant events was the launch of the new Mars Rover concept.
Mars Rover concept was created by Parker Brothers Concepts along with NASA engineers. The car is 6,000 pound (2,721 kg) with enough space for four passengers. It is 11 feet (3.3 meters) tall.
Mars Rover concept will deal with the extreme terrain of Mars and it features 50-inch wheels and a rugged suspension. The wheels are made from the fine sands of Mars. In addition to that, the concept has got solar panels. According to NASA, the concept has been created as a dual-purpose car – a full research laboratory and a scout.
Mars Rover concept features a 700-volt battery and it reaches 70 mph (112 km/h). Bear in mind that on Mars, these figures might get to 10-15 mph (16-24 km/h).
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will host the Mars Rover concept until the end of June. After that, it will head to the East Coast.
