Volkswagen Phideon is the new PHEV from the car maker. The model made its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show and was presented as en ecological sedan, with the newest technological achievements onboard.
This is actually the first domestic plug-in hybrid made in China by Volkswagen. The propulsion system is based on a 2.0-liter turbocharger, teamed with a mysterious battery and an electric motor.
Although not many details have been made public, VW has mentioned that the vehicle will consume 2.3 liters per 100 km (USA 102.2 mpg). One single charge will ensure that the car drives a total distance of 850 km. the battery can be fully charged in 2 hours.
The driver will get to choose between three different driving modes. One of them will engage both the traditional engine, as well as the electric unit. If it is green-driving you are into, than you will be able to select the E mode, which ensures a zero-emissions trip.
